Triple Celebration For Wailoaloa Family

It has been worth the wait for Maya Wati, as it will be a triple celebration at her residence at Wailoaloa, in Nadi today.
Ms Wati will be celebrating her 58th birthday, her daughter’s return and Mother’s Day. Her daughter Pratika Singh a nurse by profession was part of the COVID-19 team at the Isolation Centre at the Nadi Hospital.
Mother of five, Ms Wati who is originally from Waiqele, Labasa said she had deferred her April 24 birthday celebration to today as her daughter will join them and they will also celebrate Mother’s Day together.
“My daughter had left us on March 20 and after her term at the Isolation Centre, spent 14 days in self-isolation at Nasau Hotel in Nadi, when I turned 58,” Ms Wati said.
“It was not easy for me as a mother, I think of my daughter every day,” she said.
“I sacrificed my birthday just to pray for her. I am glad that she is back at home in good health.
“I decided to celebrate my birthday on Mother’s Day. It is a special Mother’s Day for me as I also get to celebrate my birthday with my daughter and family.”
Mrs Wati is married to Kedar Singh, 80.
Ms Singh, 33 said she was happy to be back home with her family. She is passionate about her profession.
She had returned home on May 1, and was back at work at the Nadi Hospital Emergency department this week.
“I was away from home for 46 days,” Ms Singh said.
“I am so happy to come back home to my family.
“I really missed my mother’s recipes, especially the roti and curry.
“This year is a special Mother’s Day for us as we will hold a grand dinner for my mother. Her birthday was on April 24 but she chose to celebrate it on Mother’s Day with me and everyone.”
