Fiji’s Education Minister’s ‘Barter Bug’ Soars

Minister for Education Rosy Akbar follows the Barter for Better Fiji Facebook page religiously, seeking out disadvantaged families to help.
The page, which was created more than a month ago, has gained traction online for the selfless display of generosity shown to people financially affected by COVID-19.
Ms Akbar says her participation is, “my personal contribution to that forum. I have the barter bug.
“I do whatever little I can to support, with whatever is within my means.”
She is urging the public to help less fortunate families.
“That forum has gained a lot of momentum. I follow it very closely and it is making a lot of impact in the lives of those who are disadvantaged,” the minister said.
“We are headed through very tough times and I would like to urge an appeal to people if they have to go out of their way to make a difference in any underprivileged child or families please do it with a full heart because God’s blessing will be upon you.”
