A 24-year-old man who allegedly set fire to a church in Nadi was remanded and referred for a psychiatric assessment by the Nadi Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Osea Tuidraki of Narewa appeared before Magistrate Epeli Dalituicama charged with one count of sacrilege.

Police prosecution Sergeant Ana Mataniwai told the court: “He is believed to be of unsound mind and a psychiatric assessment is required.”

The accused is alleged to have set fire to the Bible Truth Fellowship Church building last Sunday in Votualevu.
