30 Students Of Qamea Island Benefit From Village Funds

Thirty students of Qamea Island shared $7,400 of the village mataqali funds to help them get access to their education resources.

Qamea Island advisory councillor Petro Dera said secondary school students received $100 each and tertiary students received $200 each.

Mr Dera said this followed the decision by the village headman and community leaders.

He said $10,000 was kept aside every year for the students.

“It is a hard time for many family members because many of them have been laid off from their job due to COVID-19,” he said.
