For close to thirty years, Raijeli Taga has worked at the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources.

It came as no surprise when the chairman of the Public Service Commission, Vishnu Mohan, announced that she was the new Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources.

In a statement on Tuesday, Mr Mohan said: “After a wide search of both internal and external candidates, the Public Service Commission, with the agreement of the Prime Minister, has appointed Ms Taga as the new Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources.

“Since 2018, Ms Taga stood out in her service as the Deputy Secretary for Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources, making her a natural fit for this promotion.”

Ms Taga received her PhD in Mining Engineering in the Field of Environment Toxicology at the University of Queensland.

She is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and previously served on the Board of Directors of Investment Fiji.

Ms Taga is married with three children.

She is from Rukua in Beqa.

She is a University of the South Pacific graduate and started her career as a Chemist in the Chemical Lab at the Mineral Resources Department.

Backed by her strong foundation of skills and experience within the ministry, the Public Service Commission looks forward to seeing Ms Taga help lead Lands and Mineral Resources in her new role, Mr Mohan said.
