The Naveyago, Navosa native, who recently quit Gallagher Premiership Rugby club Harlequins in England to join Castres in the Top 14 comp in France, is the only Olympian in the 7s magician’s list.

Serevi, who started his career in 1989 and became the first Fijian to be inducted in World Rugby Hall of Fame, rated Kunatani as among best forwards in an interview with former Fiji 7s Olympic coach Ben Ryan.

“Semi Kunatani is a beast who can create something out of nothing. Just like Mesake Rasari, he’s a handful to the opposing teams,” Serevi said.

“I think former New Zealand 7s skipper DJ Forbes a great rugby player and always leads by example. He doesn’t have the pace but always at the right place, right time and doing the right thing.

He also rated Tim Rodber, a member of the inaugural Rugby Sevens World Cup (Melrose Cup) for England held in 1993 in Murrayfield, Scotland.

“Tim’s a tough and physical, he makes all players work hard.

“Then we have our very own Viliame Satala, Semisi Naevo and Vesi Rauluni in the forwards with NZ veteran Tim Mikkelson a very consistent player. They make up the forwards.

“I’m thinking of the late Jonah Loma and you would want him to be in your team as he is handful in attack and defence. He is a really strong player.

“England flyer Andrew Harriman is fast, he chases players and scores tries. “I’ve played with late Joost Van Der Westhuizen and a very strong halfback and fast as well.

“Noa Nadruku at rover was the player that introduced the goose step quite a fast and strong player, he went on to play rugby league after we played together in 1991. Tomasi Cama (Snr) the winger is so fit and a very good tackler.”

Meanwhile, Kunatani will team up with Fiji Airways Fijian 7s rep Vilimoni Botitu, Adrea Coacagi and Fiji Airways Fijian Drua Osea Waqaninavatu for the new season at Castres.
