Years of requests to the Government have been answered for Josefa Turuva of Namoli Village, Lautoka.

Mr Turuva is grateful to Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and his Government for answering their plea for a seawall, which his dad had repeatedly requested.

He expressed his gratitude after the commissioning of the Namoli Village Hybrid Bio engineering coastal protection programme on Thursday.

“We were speaking in Vitogo and we looked for some documents regarding fishing and so I opened my late father’s bag and saw all the past requests for assistance for this seawall. He wrote to the Government back when Ratu Mara was the Prime Minister,” he said.

“I am thankful that today (Thursday) the cries of our elders in the past have come to fruition. I am thankful to your Government for all the work you have done. I am grateful to God who has chosen you to stand at this time to bring to pass things other governments have not done and was abandoned by them.

“I am also thankful that when we took up an issue regarding a piece of land in Rakiraki to be returned to us, we made representations to your office in Suva then we were sent back, but I am grateful that you gave the funds to assist with this.”

Mr Turuva said: “There have been many Governments that have gone, but since the time of your Government, so much great work has been achieved, and I am grateful that all the plans by your Government was God’s will and plan as well.”
