Former A-G’s Office Employee Fronts Court For Allegedly Falsifying Sick Sheet

A former employee of the Office of the Attorney-General was produced in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday for allegedly falsifying his sick sheet.

The accused Raneel Prasad is charged with one count of False or Misleading Information.

It is alleged that on July 1, 2019, he gave the printed copy of a medical certificate to a Clerical Officer, which contained information he knew to be false.

Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption lawyer Joseph Work informed the Court that first phase disclosures had been served.

Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa granted the accused’s bail and instructed him not to re-offend whilst on bail, not to interfere with FICAC witnesses and not to change his residential address without the leave of the court.

The case has been adjourned to August 17 for mention.
