The three-bedroom concrete home on fire in Wairuku, Rakiraki.
Early Wednesday morning Akosita Lewavoli lost her three-bedroom concrete home in Wairuku, Rakiraki.
The 57-year-old said the incident occurred around 2am.
“Luckily I was by myself as my youngest son was spending the holidays in Seaqaqa, Vanua Levu,” she said.
“I could smell smoke and thought it was coming from the kitchen.
Unfortunately, by the time I was able to gather myself the fire had spread so quickly.”
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said there were no casualties reported.
“The cost of the damage is estimated at $138,000.”
Investigation continues.
