When Seafood Plus first opened its business in 2017, Fish and Chips did not thrive as it did today.

Today, the restaurant has seen a spike in demand for its fish and chips over the last three years.

Located along Bau street next to the Mobil Service station in Flagstaff Suva, Seafood Plus has also allowed eat-ins.

Initially Seafood Plus was a grab and go fish and chips restaurant.

Seafood Plus manager Vinay Nath said they carefully selected the pricing to suit the quantity of the servings.

He said it was also the recipe used to make the fish and chips.

These were tactics that attracted the customers.

“We have customers who are regulars and they believe in us because of the taste.

“We get comments from customers that they are the cheapest in town, so we make sure that the serve is worth the money,” he said..

“Sometimes we may cut the fish in different sizes so we give customers an extra piece,” he said.

Menu

  • Seafood Plus currently sells fish and chips at $5 per serve which includes three piece crumbed fish with marination, lemon, chilies and tomato sauce.
  • Aside from this, the restaurant also sells chicken and chips for $7.95 which includes two piece crumbed drumstick, one piece chicken wing with marination with lemon, chilies and tomato sauce.

Seafood Plus was formerly a grab and go restaurant but has also switched to include eating in.

The business currently has four employees working.

At the time Nausori was under lockdown because of COVID-19 positive cases in the area, the business had to close for two weeks.

This is because the majority of its employees reside in Nausori.

Expansion plans

Mr Nath said while discussions are still on going, Seafood Plus has plans to expand and open another outlet.

He said at the moment, business is still trying to settle down.

Current operating hours are Monday to Saturday from 9am – 6pm.
