Fiji Airways Fijiana XV rugby prop Leilaini Burness and Torika Semo shared their rugby skills during the JetSet Junior Rugby Club clinic at Namaka, Nadi last Saturday.

The clinic was held in partnership with the Fiji Rugby Union.

The country’s first junior club continues to target grassroots development with the objective to provide young boys and girls the opportunity to enhance their rugby skills in a game they are passionate about.

Co-founder Inise Mucunabitu said, “The club is committed to growth within the local community through the support of Nadi Rugby and Fiji Rugby Union’s ‘Get into Rugby programme.”

She added since its inception in December 2018, the club had been conducting fortnightly clinics.

Mucunabitu said they were grateful to Nadi Rugby for giving their members an opportunity to play in the curtain raisers of the Skipper Cup Premiership matches that they hosted at Prince Charles Park.

However, like every other sport in the country, this came to a stop when the country was hit with the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This Tag Rugby and Skills session not only enhances our children’s rugby skills but also engages them in activities that will build teamwork, boost self-esteem.

‘At the same time just to have fun and make new friends who will provide them with a support system in the future.”

Mucnabitu thanked FijiWATER for their continued support in supplying water for children and the Ministry of Health for conducting free medical screening.

“And of course we are ever so grateful to Fiji Rugby Union’s national development manager Koli Sewabu for his continued support,” she added.
