Prime Miniser Voreqe Bainimarama has reminded civil servants in Bua to serve the people within the province.

“Every officials serving this province must become strong advocates of opportunity my Government has made available to the Fijian people, including land owning communities,” he said.

Mr Bainimarama is touring the Northern Division this week. Yesterday he officiated in the commissioning of two provincial staff quarters at Nabouwalu in Bua, with a cost of $180,000.

“These new quarters come with new expectations and I expect to see an immediate step up in the new level of service provided by the officers of the Bua Provincial Council.”

“No exceptions and no excuses and I ask not to let this investment go to waste.

“Every extra hour of you make of this quarters should be matched by extra mass of services you deliver to the people

“So as your wellbeing improves so must be the well being of every Fijian that you’re entrusted to.”

Mr Bainimarama said those opportunities were made possible through the Constitution, which established prominent and unwavering protection of the iTaukei land ownership.

He said the Government was focused on bridging the gap of service delivery between Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

“I understand that these new quarters were constructed by officials in the area and I am proud to see this promise delivered.”

Mr Bainimarama also commissioned newly-refurbished teachers’ quarters for Ballantine Memorial School in Delainavesi on Monday, and new staff quarters at the Ministry of Fisheries’ Wainibokasi Service Centre last week.
