3 Alleged Escapees Remanded, Fourth Escapee Recaptured

Three of the four remand prisoners, who allegedly escaped from Police custody on Tuesday afternoon, have been remanded by the Magistrates Court in Nadi.

Savenaca Vunisa, Tevita Sausau, and Sikeli Vakasilimi appeared before Magistrate Nilmini Fernandez charged with one count of escaping from Police custody.

Prosecutor, Corporal Mikaele Salele, represented the state.

The three understood the charge and waived their rights to a lawyer.

The court heard that the three allegedly escaped at the service station at Nadi Back Road and were recaptured while one fled the scene. The court also heard that the three have a history of escaping from Police custody.

The fourth accused was recaptured yesterday and will appear in court today.

Magistrate Fernandez adjourned the case to July 16.
