Fijian Cricket Star Joins Police Force

Discipline and hard work paid off for Fijian cricket captain Sekove Ravoka.
The Lomanikoro Rewa, native is now undergoing recruitment training at the Fiji Police Academy in Nasova.
Ravoka was also awarded a Bravery Medal for saving a family from a house fire.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday Cricket Fiji chief executive officer Alex Konrote said Ravoka deserved to join the Fiji Police Force.
“He is a very committed and disciplined athlete,” Konrote said.
“There is no substitute for hard work and Sekove has proved that. “His commitment has also paid off so we are proud of him.”
“Sekove worked as a developing officer in Nadi from 2016 to 2019, but he used to come to play in Suva.
“He came to play for a couple of clubs before Police officials approached him with a promise of a job opportunity at the force.”
Ravoka played for the Fiji Police Force cricket team and the Duavata Community Policing through Sports initiative, he was actively involved in establishing the sport in Nadi and throughout the Western Division where he was based.
Konrote said the 11-week recruitment training means he would be away from his wife and four children but they are grateful for the opportunity for Ravoka to work and support his family.
