The Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre donated seven brand new beds to Lautoka Hospital’s maternity and high dependency wards on Friday.

This donation was facilitated by the Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprises and Development (FRIEND).

The centre’s co-ordinator Shamima Ali said this was an addition to medical supplies for the subdivision and two beds for staff in COVID-19 quarantine.

“We are just concerned about women who have been facing difficulties in birthing stations and as part of women’s maternal health, we want to make them comfortable with all we can give,” Ms Ali said.

FRIEND director Sashi Kiran said they provided three beds for health centres as well some medical supplies.

“The non-government organisations have been concerned about health care needs in the western division and trying to support Western Health with resources through donations,” Ms Kiran said.
