USP Saga: Human Resources Director Quits, Leaves Country

A senior executive of the University of the South Pacific has resigned from her position as the Director of Human Resources.

It is understood that her resignation would have been sent to the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and President’s Office, also to the Manager HR and Legal and to a certain HR staff member.

An email from the Director’s husband indicated that they were relieved she was now in Australia pending the allegations against her. The email said her family would not be returning to Fiji again.

Also in the same email, the husband accused staff of backstabbing his wife who resigned and left Fiji abruptly.

The Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee Mahmood Khan, in his paper to the USP Council, alleges that a director was appointed for a position which requires a Master’s Degree, but the successful candidate only had a certificate.

The candidate allegedly enrolled for a Master in Business Administration programme before the interview, but allegedly withdrew from the course when she was appointed.

The Fiji Sun had emailed and visited Vice-Chancellor Professor Pal Ahluwalia’s residence at the university and tried his personal phone contact yesterday.

Attempts to get comments from him were unsuccessful by the time this edition went to press.
