Fijians intending to travel to the United Kingdom are allowed to transit through New Zealand, Hong Kong and Australia.

This has been confirmed by the British High Commission here in Fiji.

This is good news for Fijians, who need to travel to England to begin their roles in the British Army.

In a statement released by the UK Department for Transport, passengers returning to or visiting the UK from certain destinations including Fiji will no longer need to self-isolate on arrival from July 10.

This means that visitors arriving into England will no longer need to self-isolate unless they have been in or transited from the UK lists’ non-exempted countries in the preceding 14-days.

However, visitors, except for those from the list of exempted countries, will still be required to provide contact information on arrival in the UK.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has also updated its global advisory against ‘all, but essential’ international travel to certain exempt destinations that no longer pose an unacceptably high risk of COVID-19.

The FCO has also indicated that the exempted countries and territories will be kept under constant review, so that if the health risks increase, self-isolation measures can be re-introduced to help stop the spread of the disease into the UK.
