Network Issues A Problem For Rabi, Nearby Islands

Network problems have made life difficult for people in Rabi and nearby islands.

Rabi Council Administrator Karia Christopher said people in the maritime islands depended heavily on the Vodafone network to use TMO services through the Post Office.

This has been a problem for the past three months, he said.

“We hope that they can do something about the network soon,” Mr Christopher said.

“Many families rely on that money to buy their groceries and food for their children as they go back to school.

“People are up in arms as they go to the Post Office every day and they are told that the services are not available.”

Provincial Administrator Setareki Dakuiboca said a team from Vodafone had attended to the technical fault at their tower.

“Since Thursday afternoon, the areas in Buca Bay, Natuvu were able to get signals after some maintenance from Vodafone,” Mr Dakuiboca said.

“We were there last week and yesterday (Thursday) with the company to normalise the network reception soon.”
