Fijian Student In Hawaii To Get US Envoy Help

The United States of America Ambassador to Fiji, Joseph J Cella, is personally looking into a situation where a Fijian student studying in Hawaii has a passport and visa that has expired.

During a talanoa session on Wednesday students, ex-scholars and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the LDS College, the issue was brought to the attention of the US Ambassador.

One of the participants, Sainimere Tabu, told the Ambassador that her sister was the student studying in Hawaii.

Mr Cella told Sainimere to get her sister to personally email him and that he would direct her email to the right person at the US Embassy.

Sainimere told Mr Cella that her sister was to return soon, but was facing her passport dilemma in Hawaii.

Mr Cella reiterated to those present about the importance of people-to-people diplomacy in which he loved visiting places around the country.

The USA Ambassador was at the LDS College to donate library books to the school. Other questions that were raised during the talanoa session included: How the world was reacting to the effects of the global pandemic?

Mr Cella said that there was a good chance that a vaccine may be in place and was showing good signs that it would work.
