VPL: Speedy Wasasala Seals Suva’s Win

Suva Football Association president Ritesh Pratap admitted that the All in One Builders sponsored- Nadi side played a better game despite losing 1-0 at Prince Charles Park, Nadi yesterday.
The Christopher Wasasala goal ensured that Suva remained unbeaten in the VPL and are now in second place on the points table.
What happened: Both teams started cautiously as they wanted a win to improve their position on the points table.
Suva played constructive football but were held back by the Nadi defence while the hosts had their chances but could not score.
Halftime: Nadi 0-0 Suva.
In the second half, Nadi kept the pressure as the Suva defence led by goalkeeper Beniamino Mateinaqara kept them at bay.
In the 87th minute, a counter-attack by Suva saw Wasasala sped past Nadi defender Ame Votoniu to slot in the lone goal.
Comments: Suva FA president Ritesh Pratap said: “We were lucky to come out victorious over Nadi. “Everyone knew that Nadi was all over Suva. The officials were under pressure and were sure of what was happening. We have to play Ba on Saturday and will rectify our mistakes from Tuesday.”
Nadi football coach Kamal Swamy said: “We played 90 minutes football but we were unfortunate not to score.”
