Former Family Court Registry Typist Charged

A former Typist with the Family Court Registry was produced in the Suva Magistrates Court today on corruption-related offences.

Ms Seini Rokosamu was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) with one (1) count of Embezzlement by Servant and three (3) counts of Obtaining a Financial Advantage.

She is alleged to have embezzled $2,600.00 FJD from the Maintenance Fund, which was entrusted to her at the Suva Family Court Registry between January and February 2009.

She is further alleged to have falsified signatures on the Maintenance Payment Sheet for three (3) different people in order to receive a total of $830.00 FJD on three different occasions in 2010.

FICAC State Counsel Mr Sam Savumiramira informed the court that first phase disclosures were served.

The Accused was released on bail and was instructed to report to the FICAC office every Friday with a Stop Departure Order also being issued against the Accused.

The matter was adjourned to 22 September 2020.
