Skipper Cup: Our Faith Made Us Win, Tailevu Captain Admits After Close Win

Tailevu captain Mosese Naiova said: “We really believed that we were going to win. “We prepared well and we made it. It was through our faith in God that we were able to achieve this win.”

The Mosese Naiova captained- Tailevu rugby side scored a 26-17 win over Lautoka in their Skipper Cup clash at Churchill Park, Lautoka, yesterday.

What happened: The hosts took a 7-0 lead in the 15th minute with a try from Laisenia Tora and the conversion from Waisea Luveniyali.

In the 16th minute of the game, captain Ilaisa Leca scored Lautoka’s second try try and Luveniyali added the extras 14-0.

Then Tailevu settled down and replied in the 20th minute with a try to Kevurieli Bulivorovoro and the conversion from Alivereti Mocelutu

Mocelutu ran in their second try and converted it to level the scores at 14-14.

Then Luveniyali converted a penalty before the interval

Halftime: Lautoka 17 – 14 Tailevu

In the 48th minute winger Josevani Drava scored for Tailevu as they led 21-17.

Then in the 56th minute Tailevu’s Epeli Cawanibuka scored their final try for the 26-17 win.
