Suva Netball Association president, Georgina Lasaqa has applauded clubs for turning up in numbers during the opening round of club competition on Saturday.

“I think people are just eager to get on the courts,” Lasaqa said.

“We have got the number in here, it’s so hard to control them on the courts.

“There is a hype among the students, roses and princess and there’s also so much energy. I think they have been at home for too long, and they’re delighted to be here.

“This year we only have one new club, Lami Netters and there’s a push under the Fiji National Sports Commission in advertising to the communities. So we’re happy to have Lami Netters onboard.

“And also I think we have got Kalabu, they did not participate with us last year, but they are with us this year.”

Lasaqa said there were 16 clubs and more than 70 teams registered under SNA this year.
