An extensive bush fire (cause unestablished) has burnt four (4) wooden power poles that evacuate electricity via the 33,000 volts transmission powerline from Rarawai in Ba to Tavua and all the way to Rakiraki.

The damaged power poles pose an eminent safety risk and need to be urgently replaced.

The bush fire has damaged the power poles and has caused an unplanned power outage to our valued customers in the corridor from Tavua to Vatukoula, Nadarivatu all the way to Navesau which is past Rakiraki since 10:54am today, Tuesday 11th August, 2020.

EFL teams are currently carrying out the necessary repair works and are expected to complete the repairs by 10:00am tomorrow morning, Wednesday 12th August 2020, weather permitting, before power supply can be fully restored to the affected areas.
