A first-year student of the Fiji National University said she did not need to wait in line at the Student Academic Services after the Virtual Open Day session.

Shreeta Nand is pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Management. She was one of the many who participated in the first day of the university’s new norm initiative yesterday.

“Before students would wait in line just to ask a few questions, but now for this one week, we are able to send an instant query from class or home and staff members reply instantly,” Ms Nand said.

“It saves us time and money since some of us live quite a distance from the university.”

The week-long programme which ends this Friday is an opportunity for potential and continuing students a chance to experience a Campus Tour on video and learn about the seven campuses in the country.

The videos are prerecorded and has heads of colleges and divisions talk about courses and services.

There are live Q&A sessions available on its website https://www.fnu.ac.fj/open-day/campus-tour/ with a chat widget available at the bottom right of the website.

You can also chat through Facebook messenger and Vodafone Toll Free Number 857.

Director Marketing and Communications, Jenies Mudiliar, said: “Anyone can register and ask their questions to our staff through the live chat sessions and get instant responses to their questions.”

Just like a regular open day, this is your chance to learn more about your course, life as a student in FNU, and our campuses and facilities right from the comfort of your home.

At the end of day one, 35 schools registered for the live sessions. In total, 94 schools have signed up for the Open Day.
