Fiji Football Coach Impressed With Young Talents

Vodafone Fijian football head coach, Flemming Serritslev, has praised young players that played at the Punjas Battle of the Giants tournament.
These players, Serritslev says, have proved themselves to be among those in the national squad when they march into camp next Monday.
“It was actually a good tournament,” he said.
“There are several young players, some of them are still under-19 that I have selected.
“I want to see them among the best players in the country.
“They are not selected because they are the best national league players, but because they have talents,” Serritslev added.
Among them is 18-year-old Ba goalkeeper Isikeli Seva Junior while Rewa’s Josaia Sela has been ruled out due to a fractured leg.
The experienced Dane said that the Battle of the Giants tournament was one of the toughest tournament, having to play three games in three days.
He was happy with the pace of the game played at certain matches.
“In some of the matches for sure, the game was faster than before, three or four really good matches, on a level like I wanted to pick.
“Actually some of the games are Lautoka versus Rewa , Labasa versus Ba, and the semifinals between Rewa and Ba was a very good match,” he added.
Despite Labasa being eliminated in the group play, Serritslev said they played some good football.
The Northerners bowed out of the tournament without losing any game.
“I think Rewa deserved to win the competition, Rewa was the most stable team in the competition, they were also involved in some of the best games,” he said.
Meanwhile, the next national training camp will be held at the Fiji Football Academy in Ba.
It will be a five-day camp, players would be released on Friday to join their district teams to prepare for the second round of the Vodafone Premier League (VPL).
Round 2 of the VPL is scheduled to start on August 29.
