Vodafone Vanua Championship: Macuata Rugby Target Win

The Macuata Rugby Union (MRU) is targeting a win against Bua in tomorrow’s Vodafone Vanua Championship opener at Subrail Park in Labasa.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday MRU president Ratu Maikali Dimuri said with the new board they are aiming to take the team back to the major union.
‘We want to return and play in the Skipper Cup, so a win in every match is very important to us,” Ratu Maikali said.
“Macuata has been participating in this challenge for two years and we have a squad of 37 players. ”We are confident of a good performance.
“In the Vanua Challenge we will be competing against Cakaudrove, Bua and Ovalau. They are all good teams.”
He said the Macuata team have been preparing well under the guidance of head coach Levaci Digitaki.
“With the new board we hope to get support from our people and even business houses as our aim is to help move the economy forward,” the former national rugby trialist said.
“We even have met the Tui Macuata and carried out necessary protocols as we want the best for the team.”
Ratu Maikali is urging the people of Macuata to come out in numbers to support the team.
The women’s clash kick-off at 11am, followed by the Under-19 at 1pm with the men’s senior match at 3pm.

Western Division: Navosa v Malolo at Navosa High School ground, Keiyasi; Serua v Ba at Uprising Fiji Beach Resort in Pacific Harbour, Deuba
Northern Division: Macuata v Bua at Subrail Park, Labasa; Cakaudrove v Ovalau at Ratu Ganilau Park, Savusavu.
Central Division: Rewa v North Bulls at Burebasaga School ground; Nasinu v Northland at St Marcellin School ground in Vatuwaqa, Suva.
