Men In Hoods Along Kia Road Attack University Students

Four female university students were allegedly attacked by a group of men on their way home on Thursday evening.
Witness, Joana Tagilolo, said at around 7.30pm while on her normal evening run, along Kia Road, she met the group of young men in hoods.
They walked passed her, stretching their bodies as if they were also doing their exercise.
After a few metres, Ms Tagilolo could sense something was wrong. “When I turned back, I saw these same men attacking the young women,” she said.
“I tried to catch a glimpse of their faces but I couldn’t.
“The women were shouting and crying.”
“A vehicle stopped at the scene and the occupants of the vehicle shouted at the men. I was running towards them and shouting,” she said.

Witness of the alleged incident, Joana Tagilolo.
She added that the hooded men got away through a road joining Kia and Grantham Road.
Ms Tagilolo said one of the young women lost her bag and her phone. The other three clutched on to their belongings and did not let go.
The young women were taken to the Raiwaqa Police Station.
Other witnesses:
While having his dinner in his flat at the Public Rental Board building, Pise Pale, 47 said he heard cries for help. He saw the attackers run off into the dark through a short cut.
Mr Pale said the pathway was a common place for drinking parties.
Another witness, Moira Raduva, also heard screams and she rushed out of her house. She saw the alleged incident and managed to record a video of the young women after the attack.
It is believed the matter was not reported to the police despite the young women being taken to the Raiwaqa Police Station.
