Methodist Church Of Fiji Will Draw Up Social Media Guidelines

The Methodist Church of Fiji and Rotuma will meet today to discuss the setting up of social media policy guidelines for the church.
This is in response to the circulation of a video recorded last Sunday for three women being prayed for after one of the reverend’s sermons.
President of the Methodist Church of Fiji Reverend Epineri Vakadewavosa said currently the church does not have any social media policy guideline in place.
“We will be talking to people from the church about this because it is very important for the church to have these policies, especially during this difficult time with COVID-19 that we are going through,” Rev Vakadewavosa said.
“Definitely we are going to have these policies in place so that members can also respect the teachings of the church,” he said.
He said the meeting would also give the church a better position to discuss the circulation of the video on Facebook.
50 per cent capacity
Archbishop Peter Loy Chong took to social media to encourage people to attend mass after Government approved places of worship to operate at 50per cent capacity.
Archbishop Chong said the Fiji Council of Churches petitioned Government a week ago to give places of worship the same privilege as sporting facilities and cinemas.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and the Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete on Friday at the commissioning of two crossings in Ra.
