Hughes Tops Goal Scoring List

Extra Supermarket Rewa Futsal striker, Bruce Hughes, was awarded the Golden Boot Award.
Hughes scored nine goals in the three- day tournament of the Vodafone Futsal InterDistrict Championship 2019 in Suva on Sunday.
This was only his second Futsal tournament and Hughes said that all credit was to the Almighty who made all things possible.
He first played for the Suva Futsal team in 2018, where they were champions.
Rewa were placed third after losing to Lami 7-6 on penalty shootouts in the semi-final. Suva retained the Futsal title after beating Lami 3-2 in the final.
“I want to dedicate this award to all Futsal fans for coming out in numbers and also to my team-mates.”
Originally from Navunievu in Bua, the 23- year-old was born and bred in Naivimoli, Dreketi, Macuata.
It was in Dreketi where he started playing football for his primary school.
He further developed his football career when he moved to Suva in 2006 and attended Makoi Muslim Primary School before moving to Suva Muslim College.
Hughes is the younger brother of Rewa captain, Setareki.
Despite finishing third in the Futsal tournament, the Delta Tiger boys are keen to do better in future tournaments.
They are now focused on the second round of the Vodafone Premier League, which starts on Saturday.
Rewa take on Ba at the Fiji Football Academy grounds in Ba at 3pm on Saturday.
