Hussain Beats Son For Top Spot

Nadi businessman Abid Hussain shot nine-over-par 225 over 54-holes to claim his fourth Vuksich & Borich sponsored- Fiji Amateur Golf Championship at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club course on Sunday.
He last won the title in 2018. Hussain had to beat his son and 2019 winner Baroon Hussain who shot 233 while Nigel Gounder finished third with 234.
In the women’s category, Sunny Kim took top honours with 150 gross and Bela Cho shot 151.
Denarau Golf and Racquet Club manager Amitesh Chandra said 48 players played during the two- day stroke event.
He added the next tournament will be held at the same venue as the Vuksich & Borich sponsored Fiji Amateur Foursome in September.
Nadi Airport Golf Club
Hafif Ali carded 35 points to claim top honours during the Nadina Restaurant sponsored- stableford golf tournament at the revamped Nadi Airport golf club on Saturday.
Evergreen Sada Nand shot one point before the winner with 34 points.
In third spot was Ashok Goundar with 33 points.
Nadi Airport Golf Club president Ashok Gounder said there were 15 golfers who took part.
“The golfers were testing out the new revamped golf course,” he said.
He thanked the club members for their determination in keeping the course on par.
Gounder confirmed the August 29 event is the season’s opening tournament.
