Teacher in Hospital After $10,000 Aggravated Robbery

Kamleshwar Chand, a teacher of Seaqaqa Central College is admitted at Labasa Hospital after being allegedly assaulted by three burglars on Tuesday night.

Ranjit Lal, the victim’s brother-in-law, said the burglars also allegedly assaulted others in the house and took $10,000 in cash.

He said the incident happened around 10:30pm at the home in Dagau, Seaqaqa.

“Luckily they didn’t do anything to my niece and nephew, but they are living in fear now as it happened in front of their eyes,” he said.

“Immediately, my brother-in-law and Shalvin were admitted at Labasa Hospital.

“Shalvin got discharged yesterday while my brother-in-law is admitted in critical condition.”

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said quick action resulted in the arrest of three men allegedly involved in the aggravated robbery.

“The three suspects allegedly forcefully entered the home of the victim, threatened and assaulted the victim and his wife and stole $10,000 cash,” Ms Naisoro confirmed.”

$7000 was recovered as investigations continue, she said.
