Christchurch Shooting: Grandson Of Shooting Victim Unsatisfied With Sentence

The grandson of a local man who was killed in the Christchurch Mosque shooting in New Zealand last year, is unsatisfied with the life sentence given to his grandfather’s killer.
Mohammed Iftikar Ali said his family hoped for a punishment fitting the crime, but have accepted the New Zealand court’s decision.
Shooter Brenton Tarrant, an Australian white supremacist, killed 51 people in two mosques last year, armed with multiple weapons. Mr Ali’s grandfather, Ashrat Ali Razat, was one of Tarrant’s victims. He was visiting relatives in New Zealand at the time.
“No amount of punishment will bring my grandfather back. We think of him every day,” Mr Ali said.
“I hope the killer realises the torment he has given to the many families.”
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the sentence was a relief as the terrorist will no longer be able to spread the gospel of his fear.
