Protest: Ministry Probes RKS Mass Gathering

The Ministry of Education will be looking into what triggered a mass protest by close to 100 students at Ratu Kadavulevu School in Lodoni, Tailevu yesterday.
Minister for Education Rosy Akbar said Ministry officials had been deployed to the school to investigate the gathering that transpired in the day.
“We hope to talk to the students and school officials and then decide what had happened,” she said.
“Let me make this clear, the Ministry does not condone such behaviour as shown by the students.”
Police officers were deployed to RKS after Korovou Police received a call from the Vice-Principal to report that some students had commenced a protest against the school heads.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said this was after an alleged assault case involving two students.
Videos and pictures of the protest had started circulating on social media.
There is speculation that the protest was because two students were not allowed to play for provincial rugby teams.
However, investigations will reveal what really transpired that led to the protest.
