Police Officers Test Positive For Drug Use

Police officers tested positive for drug use in tests conducted last month.
Fiji Sun believes up to seven Police officers, some regulars and some with the special constabulary division had tested positive for drug use.
It is yet to be specified if the drug tested was marijuana or methamphetamine.
Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho has voiced his anti-drug stand especially within the Fiji Police Force a few times in the past.
He had warned police officers if they have any kind of drugs in their system they should do themselves a favour and consider stepping aside from the Force.
The Fiji Police Force carries out tests on a regular basis. This is done through a simple urine test.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro yesterday confirmed that some officers had tested positive but would not confirm the number.
She reaffirmed Mr Qiliho’s stand and the Fiji Police Force on drug use was very clear.
“If they (Police officers) are tested positive they will be sent on leave and interdicted while awaiting internal disciplinary proceedings; they will also face criminal charges and be produced in Court,” Ms Naisoro said.
