The High Court has denied bail for a Naitaisiri man alleged to have killed his wife following a domestic dispute.

Josevata Werelali Koroi appeared before Justice Salesi Temo on Friday, August 28.

It is alleged that Koroi murdered his 28-year-old wife, Adi Waidru at Naqara, Waima, in Vunidawa, Naitasiri on May 1, 2020.

Justice Temo said it was in the interest of the public and the safety of the community that the accused should be remanded.

He said the court had the power to remand an accused person in custody up to two years.

Justice Temo has fixed the matter for trial to begin on March 22 and end on March 26 next year.

He highlighted that the accused allegedly found a recording of another man speaking to the deceased and got angry.

Justice Temo also read in court that the accused had an argument with the deceased, took a kitchen knife and stabbed the deceased in the middle of her chest and three times on her back.,

The deceased was found unresponsive lying in a pool of blood.

The matter has been adjourned for a pre-trial conference on October 23.
