Vodafone Vanua Championship: Ovalau To Work On Players’ Attitude

Discipline is an issue the Ovalau rugby side are going to focus on as they lead the Northern Zone of the Vodafone Vanua Championship.
This was the gist of Ovalau team manager, Ame Baleitamavua’s, message after their 11-5 win over Macuata at Subrail Park, Labasa on Saturday.
“We want our players to change their attitude and be more disciplined if they are to perform well,” he said.
“As the competition progresses, disciplined players are very much needed. This is because we want 100 per cent from them as the games are going to get tougher if we are to move up to the major union.”
Baleitamavua said they were going to work on certain areas of their game.
“We want a much improved performance from the players the next time they play.”
He said they have worked on a game plan on how they were going to tackle Bua at the Lekutu Secondary School ground this Saturday.
Meanwhile, Macuata’s newly appointed coach, Samuela Volau, said their loss to Ovalau was because the players never executed the game plan they had worked on.
“We missed many scoring opportunities that came our way but I can assure our fans that we’ll work on our mistakes and improve our performance,” he said.
“Against Ovalau we had the opportunity to win, but we lost a lot of possession in our line-outs. We are going to prepare for our next game.”
Volau said they were going for a win against Cakaudrove on Saturday.
