Fire Destroys Labasa School Teacher’s Four-Bedroom Home

School teacher Unaisi Laivou is not sure how she will rebuild her recently renovated four bedroom home that was burned to the ground on Monday at Valebasoga, Labasa.
“The damage is about $100,000,” Ms Laivou said.
Ms Laivou, who teaches at the Tabucola Valibar Sangam Primary School in Wailevu, had been living in the house with her family and parents since 1999.
“We had just done the renovation last year and that had cost us a significant amount of money.”
Ms Laivou doesn’t have a clue as how they would collect money to rebuild her house.
Meanwhile, Labasa Police are yet to receive a fire report from National Fire Authority (NFA).
This was confirmed by the Divisional Police Commander (DPC) Northern Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Eparama Waqa yesterday.
“We are carrying out our investigation,” SSP Waqa said.
“The incident happened around midday when no one was at home,” he said.
Authority chief fire officer, Qionilau Moceitai, said they were waiting to receive a report from their Labasa station.
