Family Escapes As Fire Destroys Nadera House

It was a lucky escape for a family in Veisako Road in Nadera after their two-bedroom home was completely destroyed by fire yesterday.
Family member, Akisi Romate, said the house was occupied at the time of the fire and luckily no one was injured.
“I assume that the fire started from the kitchen stove because my husband’s cousin and her partner were in the house at the time of the fire while the rest of us were at church,” she said.
“While we were in church, we got a call from them that the house was on fire so we rushed back home and saw that the fire had already burnt most parts of the house.
“I am just grateful that nobody was hurt although we did not manage to save much from the fire except two bags of clothing.”
Neighbours raised the alarm when they saw smoke coming out from the kitchen and rushed to assist the family.
One of the residents said he tried to save some items before the fire had spread quickly across the whole house.
In another incident, a home was also destroyed by fire in Kubukawa Road, Makoi on Saturday.
The home owners were attending a church service in Nakelo when the incident happened.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed receiving both reports of the fire and will await the findings from the National Fire Authority.
