Police are advising drivers to make sure their trucks are well secured when transporting heavy loads on the road at any time of the day.
Their advice follows an incident where a six-wheeler truck loaded with cane was involved in a road accident at Wailevu, Labasa on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said according to the Northern divisional traffic officer, the chain holding the cane snapped off.
“When the truck went over a speed hump, it caused the load to shift to one side resulting in the accident,” Ms Naisoro said.
“No one was injured.”
Meanwhile Ms Naisoro advises truck drivers to take extra precaution while on road.
