Ratu Tevita Komaisavai may have been announced the president of the SODELPA Lautoka Constituency but not before unsuccessful contender, Viliame Satala walked out while the results were announced.

The former rugby star was seen exiting the Coronation Church Hall in Lautoka while the other office bearers were announced in the presence of the 16 members at the meeting.

Mr Satala was one the candidates in the 2014 General Election.

SODELPA Lautoka Constituency members:

  • Albert Wise is the vice president,
  • Secretary is Sekove Tawakevou,
  • Treasurer is Josefa Tabuanivalu,
  • Women’s Wing Lautoka branch representatives are Losena Tinai, Lelea Senituba and Ilisapeci Cokovata-
  • Youth Wing representatives are Apolosi Lasei, Savenaca Komaisavai and Jeremaia Qica

Ratu Tevita, is from the SODELPA faction of the conservative right-wing which party caretaker leader Sitiveni Rabuka has aligned himself to.

SODELPA MP Jese Saukuru, who was at the election, said it was time members began garnering support before the 2022 elections.

“It’s not our jobs as Members of Parliament to be campaigning. All of us sitting here know very well what is happening, but it is your duty to reach out to someone,” he said.

“The elections are nearing, it won’t be long now, it’s your pens that will decide.”
