It’s likely that negotiations are going on between the Fiji Football Association and a London-born coach to be our next Technical Director.

It understood that Judan Ali has been targeted for the job.

When approached yesterday Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf indicated that four candidates had been shortlisted.

Yusuf says it is mandatory under FIFA that each football nation does have a dedicated technical director.

FFA had advertised the technical director’s position after the resignation of Ravinesh

Kumar who is the only A-license accredited coach in the country.

“We have shortlisted four, one local and three from overseas,” Yusuf told SUNsports. “We are progressing from there and will name the successful candidate by the end of October.

“I cannot confirm that, however, the three from overseas include one from Australia and one from New Zealand and the other one is from Europe,” added Yusuf.

The technical director’s role is to revisit what Fiji FA is doing and then make up another plan in terms of football development.

It is believed that Ali is the applicant from Europe.

Ali was born in East London and went on to play for youth clubs like Arsenal, Barcelona and Murcia.

He is also reported to be sacked by the Maldives Football Association early this year.
