WIMA Holds Wellness Workshop

Fifteen members of the Women in Maritime (Fiji) attended a mental wellness workshop in Suva last week.
According to president Jane Koi the workshop was timely and vital taking into consideration their members situation in make dominated profession.
“It was important for us to discuss our managing emotions, identifying signs of mental unwellness,” Ms Koi said.
“More so what we all can do positively to have a healthy mental state of mind. Self-care is ever so important along with attitude and gratitude,” she said.
“Mental health includes our emotional and social wellbeing and psychological as well.
“It affects how we think, feel, and act. All these helps us determine how we can handle stress, relate to others, and make the right choices.
“Mental health is important at every stage of life. Lending a listening ear to those that need it is important.”
A participant Meli Balenivalu of Swire Shipping said he learnt is having a positive attitude and being happy.
POSITIVE ATTITUTE
For Oceania Logistics representative Anna Khan, the workshop assisted her learn about self-appreciation and care and importantly developing a positive attitude.
The workshop held at the Shipping Services (Fiji) Pte Ltd premises was facilitated by Ranju Kumar of Smart Train.
WIMA (Fiji) intends to hold similar workshops in future.
