From September 28, the Fijian Elections Office (FEO) will roll out a voter’s survey in the Central Division.

This is to collect reviews and experiences from voters who voted during the 2018 General Election.

Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem, said this was the first time any election management board in the country would reach out to voters seeking their feedback.

The FEO has targeted to reach 30, 000 voters.

“The voter survey will measure public knowledge and attitude towards voting and elections and will seek feedback from voters on their experiences in voting in the 2018 election,” Mr Saneem said.

“The survey will provide a more comprehensive understanding on the voter’s turnout in the Fijian context.

“It will help the FEO and other interested organisations in enhancing the services and develop more further and targeted strategies in the 2022 General Election.”

He said the survey would be an apolitical one.

“We have 300 external staff who will be recruited for the survey in the Northern, Southern and Eastern Divisions,” he said.

“The survey will conclude at the end of October.

“Out IT team has developed a Voter Survey App in house and we will be using this app to carry out the survey.”

He said voters would need to enter their Voter Registration number to participate.

“The survey questions will be recorded on a separate database whereas your voter data will be recorded on a separate database to ensure anonymity in the references we receive,” he said.

“The intention is to submit a report to the electoral commission so they could consider giving us necessary directives for the next General Election.”

He said the survey would ensure better services in the next elections.
