Annandale Striders utility back, Ana Naimasi, came to the 44th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s with no expectations of getting an award.

And to be the best women’s player of the tournament was a bonus for the Galoa, Serua lass.

The Striders defeated defending champs, Marist Seahawks 27 – 5 to be crowned the new champs.

“I did not expect to be awarded the best player of the tournament, this was a surprise,” Naimasi said.

“But this was not an individual effort, it was because of team work and I thank God for this award.

“I would like to dedicate this award to my family in Galoa, Serua.

“No one came to watch me, but I thank the Striders sisters’ and supporters who were here and all our fans,” she added.

The 26 year old plays for the Suva women’s team in the 2020 Skipper Cup Premiership.
