Body Of Vicky Kumar Found In Sigatoka, Search Continues For Second Man

The family of Vicky Avinesh Kumar, 38, were still trying to come to terms with his death after they identified his body yesterday afternoon.

The late Mr Kumar had accompanied two other fishermen, Albert Steele and Muni Kumar on Thursday evening and never returned.

Their boat capsized at sea along Olosara in Sigatoka.

Steele managed to swim to safety. Police are still searching for Muni Kumar.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro, said that Police conducted a search operation at the mouth of the Sigatoka River and have discovered Kumar’s body.

Family member, Birend Sharma said: “We received a message from someone in Kulukulu that they found a body floating at Naqari beach in Sigatoka.”

“I quickly informed the Police where we went together with the family members. I was able to identify the body of my nephew, Vicky. The body was partly decomposed and one of the arms was missing.”

Mr Sharma said the families were still shattered and trying to come to terms with the death.

“Vicky hardly went out fishing but being a laid-off worker, he started fishing to support his family.”
