Dreketi Footballer, Coach Laid To Rest

Ahmadiyya Muslim College in Voloca was at a stand still as the body of female football player, Sainaz Begum, was brought to the school yesterday.
Principal Mohammed Mashud Ali said: “She was passionate to complete her education as she aspired to become an air hostess at the same time play professional football.
“She was an inspiration to the students and friends that she has left behind.
“She grew up in a broken family after her father passed away.
“Her mother had left her.
“Despite the family problems she went through, it never took away the drive and the passion she had for soccer and her studies.
“She lived with many guardians but never lost hope,” he said.
In a separate gathering was the funeral service of Dreketi Women’s Football coach Karalaini Matare, who died alongside Sainaz.
The duo were both buried yesterday after the post-mortem results were released. The pair were walking along Labasa/Nabouwalu Highway near Nabavatu on Friday when they were hit by logs from a truck which tumbled after failing to negotiate a bend.
