Inspector Waqasoqo Arrives From Abroad, To Be Buried On His Home Island

The late Inspector Elia Waqasoqo will be laid to rest in his village at Bouma, Taveuni next Monday.
The body of Inspector Waqasoqo arrived on the repatriation flight at the Nadi International Airport yesterday afternoon.
He was welcomed by his immediate family and members of the Fiji Police Force.
Inspector Waqasoqo, 44, passed away on October 1 while completing his studies at Sespimen Staff College in West Java, Indonesia. He was expected to graduate this month.
A statement by Police, said he suffered a heart attack.

Acting Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu said: “His passing is a loss to the Fiji Police family and we acknowledge the support of the Indonesian Government, the Indonesian Police and the support officer at the Fiji Embassy during this difficult time for the late Inspector’s family and the institution.”

He added, Inspector Waqasoqo would have graduated and held a senior managerial post similarly to other officers.
“Selection is quite tough and officers are required to meet a high standard of criteria which he was able to accomplish.
“He would have joined a list of officers who have graduated from the Sespimen Staff College and are now holding senior managerial posts,” he added.
Inspector Waqasoqo is survived by his wife and six children.
Meanwhile, 10 Fijian nationals were on the repatriation flight which originated in India.
