Yalava Bus Crash Injures 40, Passenger Tells

A 70-year-old woman is in agony after she and 40 plus passengers on a bus suffered injuries in an accident yesterday in Yalava, outside Labasa.
Deo Kumari, a social welfare recipient, said she was returning home in the bus after doing her shopping in town.
Still shaken from the trauma and with her left arm injured, Ms Kumari said she lost her $100 worth of shopping– it was her food ration for the month.
“First, I lost my shopping, and now my health is at stake. I am in so much pain,” Ms Kumari cried.

More than 40 passengers suffered injuries in the accident.
According to another passenger, more than 40 passengers on the bus suffered injuries.
The bus, belonging to Dalip Chand and Sons Limited, which was transporting passengers from Labasa Town to Naividamu, landed in a bank in Yalava.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said she was still trying to get more details about the accident.
Police are advising all motorists to be cautious on the road and to take necessary safety precautions in bad weather. If the weather was unfavourable Police are urging drivers to ensure measures were in place at all times.
