Quarantine Breach At Nadi Hotel Poses No Risk To Community: Dr Fong

The quarantine breach at Nalagi Hotel in Nadi poses no risk to the community. This was confirmed yesterday by Acting Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services, Dr James Fong.

He said the ministry was looking into a case of breach of self-quarantine measures by a man under quarantine at the hotel.

This was after the Police reported the arrest of a man in his 60s for allegedly breaching COVID-19 Quarantine Restrictions from September 25 to October 9.

Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said the man was seen coming out of his hotel room on several occasions and moving around within the hotel premises.

“The breach involved an individual leaving his room without permission,” Dr Fong said.

“He had gone from his room to the reception. He was escorted back to his room.

“He did not get in contact with any person other then those manning the facility.

“Today, was his final day and Police have been notified to meet him when he gets out of quarantine.

“There is no risk to the community regarding this breach,” Dr Fong confirmed.
